NEWS RELEASE
ARTWALK LONGMONT
************************
Hosted by Coy Ink/Amanda Maldonado in partnership with ArtWalk Longmont, The Firehouse Art Center and Downtown Longmont, the ArtWalk Strongmont Virtual Market series was created to show how our local artist community is #Strongmont through it all! Due to COVID-19, art fairs and markets are being cancelled. Artists are losing their ability to reach their patrons on a personal level. This virtual market comes to the rescue. Going beyond a typical online shop, the ArtWalk Strongmont markets are a dynamic and interactive portal to each artist’s live event. Viewers are invited to visit each artist’s studio to watch them create art live, as well as purchase from their online shop, all from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Open to artists of all types, crafters, performers, makers. If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Maldonado ([email protected]).

Dates for the events are June 20, July 18 and Aug. 22 from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. each date. Although vendors and artists must be from Colorado, the market is open for shopping around the world.

A community-based virtual market, these events also are designed to raise funds for The Firehouse Art Center, an organization committed to bringing art and culture to the Longmont community regardless of race, gender and socioeconomic status.

Amanda Maldonado/Coy Ink: I’m an artist, illustrator & painter. I love animals. It is my mission to share my love of animals and encourage you to write more letters, to create, and to learn more about the natural word. I occasionally teach art classes and host other art related events (ArtWalk Strongmont included).

Firehouse Art Center: As a small nonprofit art gallery, the Firehouse is the only arts organization in Longmont that is committed to arts education and exhibiting world-class contemporary artists (regional and national). Donations contribute to the success and continuation of our innovative exhibitions and educational programs. The Firehouse Art Center is open fvie days out of the week with free admission. We offer art classes to underserved areas of the community through partnerships with Casa de la Esperanza, Imagine! and the Alzheimer's Association. This critical work is made possible by the contributions of members, individuals and institutions who believe that everyone in the community deserves access to art and culture.

Mersadi McClure/Coy Ink: The Longmont Dowtown Development Authority encompasses 242 acres, spanning First Avenue to Longs Peak Avenue and Martin Street to Terry Street. Since 1982, more than $180 million in public and private funds has been invested in new and renovated buildings in the Longmont Downtown District. Goals and strategies are outlined in the LDDA Master Plan of Development. Mission: To develop, support and promote a vital and valuable Downtown Longmont.
