The Longmont Public Library will host author, and journalist, Amy Frykholm as part of its Authors We Love series on Wednesday, Nov. 10. Amy will discuss her new book, “Wild Woman: A Footnote, the Desert, and My Quest for an Elusive Saint” from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Longmont Public Library’s Meeting Room, 409 4th Ave.
The book chronicles Amy’s decades-long search for Mary of Egypt—runaway, prostitute, holy desert dweller, saint, and archetypal wild woman. With a scholar’s eye and a mystic’s heart, Frykholm shares a look at an elusive and dynamic figure from history while offering insights into our own inner lives.
Amy will be available after the talk to sign her book, copies of which can be purchased at the event. There is no charge for this program; however, registration is required online through EventBrite.
About the Author
Amy Frykholm is an award-winning writer, scholar, and journalist whose nonfiction works cover the territory of American religion from apocalyptists to saints. A senior editor for The Christian Century, she appears frequently on television and radio programs as an expert in American religion. She lives in Leadville, Colorado, with her husband and son.
