*************************
Long-time Colorado resident, Marta Loachamin, is endorsed in her bid for the District 2 Seat on the Board of Boulder County Commissioners by Elise Jones and Deb Gardner.

Both outgoing county commissioners respect Marta and know her to be the best qualified candidate to help lead the county out of the devastating economic crisis of COVID-19. They believe Marta is the candidate to lead us into the next period of resiliency and strength for all members of Boulder County.

“I respect and admire the hard work that both Deb and Elise have done to serve Boulder County on all the major issues from climate action to affordable housing. I am committed to building on that work and adding an important and valuable lens of equity to the leadership in our local commissioner’s office.”

Current District 2 Commissioner Deb Gardner has served Boulder County as a state legislator and then as county commissioner since 2012.

She states “Having served in both roles, I understand what it takes to be a commissioner and Marta has the skill sets necessary.  From flood recovery, to environmental health, economic opportunity and social justice, I have worked with Marta as a leader in Boulder County.  We need Marta in elected leadership as a Commissioner to meet the needs of all in our community.“

Current District 1 Commissioner Elise Jones, elected in 2012 after leading a statewide conservation advocacy organization for 13 years, is also term limited this year, and focused much of her service as a commissioner on climate action and sustainability issues.

Elise Jones states, “To successfully address climate change, we must listen to - and be led by front line community members, who are the most impacted by this urgent crisis. Marta will ensure Boulder County's climate response is equitable, just, effective and resilient."

An experienced housing advocate, community leader, self-employed single mother of two, Loachamin has taught in St Vrain Valley School District, is a guest instructor and trainer around the State sharing financial literacy based on the NAHREP 10 Disciplines, First Time Home buyer class curriculum for Colorado Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) and the History of student movements in the creation of the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Ethnic Studies Department. She currently serves on the Longmont United Hospital Centura Health Board of Directors and has been paramount in designing family and community engagement programs throughout the county in education, non-profits, City of Longmont and Boulder County most recently around cultural brokering and resiliency.
