Berthoud to Johnstown

Closures:
Larimer and Weld County — The speed limit will be lowered as needed on the project to 55 mph. Please obey speed limit signs.

Tuesday, there will be left turn lane closures on the I-25 ramps at Colorado Highway 60 for placement of lighting poles at the following times:

  • Northbound off-ramp, 9 to 10 a.m.
  • Southbound on-ramp, 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Southbound off-ramp, 11 a.m. to noon
  • Northbound on-ramp, noon to 1 p.m.

Tuesday night, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the northbound I-25 left lane will be closed between Larimer County Road 14 and Colorado Highway 402 for sign structure installation.

Other Work Not Requiring Closures:

  • Slope grading, placement of erosion control material, fence installation, pouring of light foundations, and planting will take place near I-25 at CO 60/WCR 48.
  • Fencing, forming, rebar and pouring of outlet structures and seeding will take place around the water quality detention pond near CO 56/WCR 44. Barrier work, concrete and slope paving and electrical wiring will take place in the I-25 median at CO 56.
  • Guardrail work will take place near I-25 at Larimer County Road 16.
  • Barrier work, asphalt milling, sign caisson work, Installation of signs and utility work will take place sitewide along southbound I-25.

Lane closures for the week of Sept. 17:

  • Tuesday: I-25 ramps left turn lane closures at CO 60.
  • Tuesday night: northbound I-25 left lane closure between MP 253-255.

Johnstown to Fort Collins

To shift traffic on the new I-25 ramps at Prospect Road, a full closure of the southbound I-25 on-ramp from Prospect Road and an intermittent full closure of the southbound I-25 on-ramp from Mulberry Street will take place from:

  • 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday.

Southbound I-25 on-ramp from Prospect Road traffic will go north on I-25 to Exit 269/Mulberry Street and continue back onto southbound I-25.

Southbound I-25 on-ramp from Mulberry Street traffic will go northbound on I-25. Continue north to Exit 271/Mountain Vista Drive, turn left and continue onto southbound I-25.

To perform concrete finishing work on I-25 and US 34, various closures are required next week.
Full closures nightly of the westbound US 34 on-ramp to southbound I-25 from:

  • 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Tuesday.

Westbound US 34 to southbound I-25 on-ramp traffic will go north on I-25 to Exit 259/
Crossroads Boulevard and turn left. Continue west to the southbound I-25 on-ramp.

Double lane closures on US 34 over I-25 will take place 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday.

To perform final striping operations on the new I-25 roadway, various intermittent ramp
closures will take place next week.

Intermittent closure of the southbound I-25 on-ramp from Colorado Highway 392 will take
place from:

  • 9 p.m., Tuesday until 5 a.m., Wednesday.

Southbound I-25 on-ramp from CO 392 traffic will go north on I-25 to Exit 265/Harmony Road and turn left. Continue back onto southbound I-25.
Intermittent closure of the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Crossroads Boulevard will take place:

  • 9 p.m., Wednesday until 5 a.m., Thursday.

Southbound I-25 off-ramp to Crossroads Boulevard traffic will continue south on I-25 to Exit 257/US 34 and continue back on northbound I-25 to Exit 259/Crossroads Boulevard.

Daytime single lane closures on southbound I-25 will take place between Mulberry Street and Prospect Road daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Single lane closures on I-25 between US 34 and Mulberry Road will take place nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Intermittent mobile lane closures on I-25, project-wide, will take place nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday.

Firestone Mobility Hub

Daytime work, Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

Southbound West Frontage Rd./I-25 On-Ramp at Exit 240

The I-25 southbound on-ramp at exit 240 will be closed from Sunday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 25 at 5 a.m. Zak Dirt will be removing and replacing the current inlet on the ramp to increase the drainage capacity for the on-ramp. Damaged panels will also be replaced on the existing off-ramp.  Improvements will be made to the east-west pedestrian crosswalk on the south side of the intersection of Colorado Highway 119 and southbound frontage road.

To access I-25 southbound from Colorado Highway 119, travel south on Turner Boulevard and follow the detour signs to access the frontage road.

Southbound I-25

  • Southbound traffic will be shifted to the right 24/7 through October. 
  • Caution: Watch for workers on foot and operating equipment.
  • Trucks will merge with left lane traffic from the left shoulder. No lane changing in work zone.

Northbound I-25

  • Trucks will exit the highway from the left lane. Do not follow trucks into the work zone.
  • Lanes narrow slightly through the work zone - Watch for wide vehicles.

East I-25 Frontage Road

  • Tuesday - Friday, the construction crew will be setting a southbound traffic shift into the middle turn lane.
  • Flaggers will be in place to guide traffic.

The I-25 North Express Lanes Project provides a Courtesy Patrol during commute hours (6 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.) to assist with disabled vehicles within the Project limits from Johnstown to Fort Collins.

About the Project

Communities along the I-25 North corridor are expanding rapidly, contributing to major economic growth in northern Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is supporting this growth by delivering the expansion of I-25 North. Improvements are currently underway along I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins (with more to come from Mead to Berthoud).

This project brings economic, environmental and quality of life benefits for northern Coloradans by:
