Boulder County Public Works will begin Phase 1 of a roadway and culvert construction project on 95th Street between Valmont and Lookout roads at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 22. Phase 1 involves complete reconstruction of the roadway, including five-foot shoulders, and several drainage improvements. This phase will be broken into four sub-phases, all dates are approximate:

  • 1a – Lookout Road to Gunbarrel Road – April through mid-May
  • 1b – Gunbarrel Road to Phillips Road – Mid-May through mid-June
  • 1c – Phillips Road to Owl Lane – Mid-June through mid-July
  • 1d – Owl Lane to South End of Project Zone – mid-July through late August
  • View a map of the construction phases - www.BoCo.org/95th-map

In order to safely complete each sub-phase, the road will be closed to all travelers in the sections listed above between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Detours will be established. All work is weather and contractor dependent. When the road is open, there will be gravel roadway sections, so expect less-than-ideal travel conditions and reduced speeds. Please use caution when traveling through the project area.

After all of Phase 1 is complete, crews will begin prepping for Phase 2, which is the construction of a concrete culvert system north of Boulder Creek that will help prevent flood water from overtopping and closing 95th Street during large storm events. This phase, anticipated to start in September, will require a full roadway closure of 95th Street, 24-hours a day, seven days a week between Valmont and Phillips roads. The closure will last for five months, weather permitting. More information will be shared as dates are finalized.
