The Longmont Public Library is excited to announce its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Gardening Fair, set to take place from 1-4 pm on Sunday, Feb. 25 in the Longmont Library Meeting Rooms, 409 4th Ave. This year's event marks the official 2024 opening of the annual Free Seed Library, offering community members an opportunity to kickstart their spring planting endeavors by choosing up to six seed packets for free!
The Gardening Fair will be a wonderful time to connect with local organizations and businesses to learn more about gardening, ask questions, and start planning your 2024 gardening season!
With a huge thank you to the Friends of the Longmont Library for their donations and support, all attendees will be able to start their home garden at a fraction of the cost. The Seed Library is a community-driven initiative allowing individuals to access a wide variety of seeds for free. Vegetable, herb, flower and more varieties of seeds will be available during the fair and into the spring in the Library’s west lobby area.
"We are thrilled to kick off the Free Seed Library again as part of our 3rd Annual Gardening Fair," said Denise Young, Library Technician at the Longmont Library. "This initiative embodies the spirit of community collaboration and sustainability, empowering residents to grow their own food and contribute to a healthier, more resilient community."
The Free Seed Library will be open to all Longmont residents, and attendees of the Gardening Fair will have the first opportunity to explore and select seeds for their upcoming planting season.
