NEWS RELEASE
INTERCAMBIO
***************************
Intercambio stands in solidarity with the Black community against racial discrimination, violence, and injustice. The fight against racism is inextricably linked with our efforts to create safe and uplifting communities and bonds for immigrants and refugees. We have seen how racism and systemic oppression unjustly impact our immigrant students, and how COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted communities of color.
Recent events further ignite our passion and long-term commitment to creating safe spaces for people to connect meaningfully across cultures and enhance understanding. It's time to embrace our similarities and celebrate our differences.
We commit to listening, educating ourselves and examining our own practices, so we may be part of long-term solutions, starting in the communities where we work and live.
Many of us echo Annette's sentiments:
"Personally it’s been an endless oscillation between sadness and anger, but it’s also a call to action." - Annette James, President of NAACP Boulder County
Also powerful is this statement from Welcoming America, of which Intercambio is a member.
