NEWS RELEASE
LONGMONT PUBLIC MEDIA
*************************
Longmont Public Media will be providing digital video recording opportunities for candidates who are certified by the City of Longmont Clerk for the upcoming Nov. 7 municipal election. At that election, the mayor and three council members will be elected. Additionally, LPM in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Boulder County will be holding debates in October.
Recorded Candidate Statements
Each Certified Candidate will be eligible to come to the LPM Studio at 457 4th Avenue to record a three-minute video statement. The statements will be aired on Public Access Television and the LPM video streaming channels. Candidates will also receive a digital copy. Candidates will receive emails in late August or early September inviting them to make an appointment for a recording session.
1:1 Interviews
Each Certified Candidate will have the opportunity to record an interview with an LPM volunteer. The interviews will be 20 minutes long. Because all candidates will be asked the same questions, interviews will not be livestreamed or broadcast. They will be run on Public Access TV and made available on the LPM streaming channels. Recordings will be made the weekend of Sept. 22-23, and candidates will be contacted by email to set up a time to record. No recordings will be released until after all candidates who wish to be interviewed have done so, but in any event no later than September 25.
Debates
LPM and LWVBC will co-host a separate debate for each contested seat: Ward 1, Ward 3, At Large, and Mayor. Debates will be held in the LPM Television Studio and will be open to the public on a first-come, first-seated basis. The LPM Studio holds a 40-person audience.
