On Wednesday, December 22, at approximately 12:29 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a group of three hikers who had been had been on the Ranger Trail and reported their friend had fallen to the ground. The hiker had lost consciousness for a short time and was complaining of back pain.
A ranger from City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks arrived on scene first and was followed by members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. Rescuers stabilized the patient medically and helped the 67-year-old female from Boulder walk out to a waiting ambulance that was waiting at the Realization Point parking lot. American Medical Response (AMR) evaluated the patient and decided to transport her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The rescue took approximately two hours.
Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
