Governor Jared Polis and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) are offering free entrance to all Colorado state parks today, Aug. 7, in celebration of Colorado Day and the state’s 147th birthday.

“Colorado’s world-class state parks are a great place to enjoy the outdoors, and today entry is free! I encourage everyone to visit one of our 42 state parks,” said Polis. “When visiting state parks or spending time outdoors, please remember to stay safe and follow park rules and to protect the environment and wildlife so our public lands can be enjoyed for many years to come.”

Colorado’s state parks offer various outdoor recreation opportunities including hiking and biking trails, kayaking, rock climbing, swimming and much more.

For a full list of state parks and details about outdoor recreation opportunities at each location, closures and information visit Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s park finder map.

Additionally, CPW offers outdoor accessibility programs and accessible outdoor recreation opportunities at many of the parks. For more information and to register for different programs, click here.

The Polis administration and partners in the state legislature have taken steps to save people money and make the outdoors more accessible so that everyone can experience Colorado’s public lands.

This year, Polis and CPW announced the $14 ‘Centennial State Park Pass.’ The pass is available for lower-income Colorado residents and provides access to any state park for the year. Additionally, last year the state announced the ‘Keep Colorado Wild Pass’ which offers Colorado residents the opportunity to purchase a $29 annual state park pass at a significantly lower cost than in previous years.

Please remember to take appropriate steps to keep yourself and others safe while visiting the parks. For more information, click here.
