Coffee with Council: Sept. 30

Longmont City Council will host an in-person Coffee with Council from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Ave. At this event, you can talk informally with Council Members Sean McCoy and Tim Waters on any topic of your choice. Submit “pro/con” statements for ballot

Any registered elector in the city of Longmont may submit Pro or Con statements regarding any of the three taxing ballot issues (TABOR issues) the Longmont City Council has referred to the Nov. 7 ballot. Comments are due by noon on Friday, Sept. 22 to the City Clerk’s Office, locatd within the Civic Center at 350 Kimbark St. Comments may not mention names of persons or private groups, endorsements or resolutions for or against any ballot issue and must each be signed by a registered voter and include their address in order to be accepted. Enter your float in the Holiday Parade

It’s time to plan your Longmont Lights parade float! Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your business or organization in lights at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 during the annual holiday parade on Main Street. All parade entries are eligible for prizes. Download your entry form or register online at Longmont Lights webpage. The application deadline is Friday, Dec. 1. Call 303-651-8404 with questions.

Serve on a City board or commission!

The City Council has opened their bi-annual recruitment to fill vacancies on City boards and commissions. This is a great opportunity to make your voice heard and take a more active role in your community. All applicants must be registered voters and a Longmont resident for at least one year prior to being appointed. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. Chaperone and travel with Longmont Sister Cities

Do you love to travel? Are you passionate about serving youth and your community? The Longmont Sister City Association (LSCA) is looking for chaperones for their annual student exchange trips for summer 2024. Experience the rich cultures of Chino, Japan, Ciudad Guzman, Mexico, or the Wind River Reservation of the Northern Arapaho free of cost. Learn more about the program on the LSCA website.

Efficiency Works offering triple rebates

Waste Services celebrates 75 years!

Longmont Waste Services began 75 years ago this month with trash collection and a local landfill. Over the years, the service expanded and modernized and has made a number of improvements such as progressing toward becoming a zero-waste community, developing a natural gas extraction project to fuel sanitation trucks, and launching the Waste Services app. Visit the Waste Services webpage to see where Longmont Waste Services is headed for the next 75 years, and make sure to sign up for the Waste Services app.
