Town hall to address oil and gas operations and regulations

Residents are invited to join the Boulder County Commissioners for a Town Hall on Thursday, December 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., to learn about the status of oil and gas operations and regulation in Boulder County. The Town Hall will take place at Boulder County’s Southeast Community Hub located at 1755 S. Public Road in Lafayette, Colo. 

Staff from the Commissioners’ Office, County Attorney’s Office, Community Planning & Permitting, and Public Health will present updates on oil and gas operations and regulations followed by a question-and-answer session with the Boulder County Commissioners. 

The staff presentation will include: 

  • a review of the current wells in the county
  • how the county is inspecting wells for safety and enforcement when leaks are found
  • the legislative and agency rulemaking efforts in which the county has been involved
  • the ongoing efforts to monitor and reduce the adverse impacts of oil and gas operations and transition to cleaner energies
  • litigation the county has been involved in, such as the recent Boulder County v. Crestone Peak Resources case
  • what residents can expect in the near future regarding oil and gas in Boulder County

All are welcome to attend and share comments and questions in person. Spanish interpretation will be available, and registration is requested (but not required) at Town Hall R.S.V.P.  

Due to the detailed nature of this oil and gas update, this Town Hall will consist of a longer presentation and shorter question and answer session than previous meetings. Residents are always welcome to email [email protected] with questions or concerns.
