Longmont groups to hold Electric Vehicle Caravan and Climate Change Rally

The following is a press release from Sustainable Resilient Longmont and Longmont Leads with Love Vigil and is published by the Longmont Observer as a public service.

This Saturday, September 8, Sustainable Resilient Longmont and the Longmont Leads with Love Vigil will co-host a rally and Electric Vehicle caravan to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us. Longmont will join hundreds of cities across the globe as we hold our elected leaders to account and demand that they walk the talk on climate action. This event is part of the Rise for Climate global day of action to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that puts people and justice before profits.

“We are excited about organizing an Electric Vehicle caravan and rally in Longmont as part of the global Rise for Climate movement. The time is now to put people before profits by transitioning to a clean energy economy right here in Longmont," said Longmont organizer Kathy Partridge.

“We are proud to be partnering with Longmont Leads from Love to be part of the Rise for Climate movement today and joining thousands of rallies and events across the globe. Climate change is real and happening right here in our community with the smoke from wildfires clouding our air, recent record-breaking heat and increasing threat of pollution from oil and gas in our air and water. We can not afford to wait. We must act now to take Longmont to 100% renewable energy,” added SRL Board Chair Abby Driscoll.
