DRCOG accepting Citizens' Academy applications

The following is a press release from Boulder County and is published by the Longmont Observer as a public service.

Applications for DRCOG’s fall 2018 Citizens’ Academy are now open. Earlier this year, DRCOG assumed control and management of the Citizens’ Academy, formerly a program of Transit Alliance. Through the nationally recognized academy, participants learn from local experts and leaders, network with other residents and act on what they’ve learned. Since 2007, more than 800 residents from around the region have completed the academy.

Over the past decade, the Citizens’ Academy has inspired dozens of participants to pursue public service in the Denver region. Numerous academy alumni have gone on to serve as elected officials, and hundreds of participants have been appointed to positions in public agencies or nonprofit organizations that shape Colorado’s future.

The majority of academy applicants discover the program through personal referrals – that’s where you come in. DRCOG counts on you to let individuals in your networks and organizations know about this opportunity.

Ideal candidates for the academy include those who may be interested in increasing their knowledge of regional issues and enhancing their leadership capacity. DRCOG is now accepting applications for the fall 2018 session. The application period will close on Sept. 5. The seven-week academy begins Sept. 27. If you have any questions about the Citizens’ Academy, please contact me. Brad Calvert Director, Regional Planning and Development [email protected] 303-480-6839.
