The following is a list of things happening at the Longmont Public Library:

  • The Longmont Public Library will be closed September 1-3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. It will reopen on September 4 at 10 a.m.
  • The Library announced that there will not be any regular storytimes from September 3-10. This includes the Yoga, Bedtime and Bilingual Storytimes. During this time the Library is "busy preparing some great new programs and finalizing some important staff transitions," states an announcement on the Library website.
  • On Saturday, September 15 from 2-5 p.m. the Library invites residents to participate in Word Walk. Participants walk around downtown and visit participating venues to participate in word related activities. This event is free of charge and registration is not required. The schedule includes:
    • A bilingual storytelling and poem writing at the Library
    • Riddles and word games at 300 East Breezeway
    • Contemplative reading with Grey Havens at the Firehouse Gallery
    • Local author reading with Owl Canyon Press at Treat Snackhouse
    • Calligraphy bookmark crafting at Used Book Emporium
    • Kind Words Community Quilt Stitching at Maker General
    • Storytime at Sweet Nightingale Boutique
    • Recipe writing at Kitchen Company
    • Word Discovery at Barbed Wire Books

  • Beginning September 11 and on the second Tuesday of the month, from 7-8 p.m. the Library is hosting a Ukulele Club in the first-floor meeting room. The event features Kay Miller, a Longmont resident and member of the Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra. She is coordinating and instructing the event. The Ukulele Club invites players of all levels, however, asks that participants be 16 or older. Songs will be provided to practice but you need to bring your own instrument. No registration is required.
  • On Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. the Library hosts a Writer's Group. The meeting is held upstairs in the UnQuiet Study Area. Writers 18 and older are invited to join and no registration is required. Writers who are at any point in the writing process are encouraged to join.
  • ¿Aprendiendo inglés?  Learning Spanish?  ¡Hablemos!  Let's Talk!
    • Los martes, de 12:00 a 1:00pm & Los jueves, de 5:30 a 6:30pm. Tuesdays, 12 to 1 pm & Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
This meet-up is free and open to anyone wanting to practice their language skills. It is recommended that participants have at least an intermediate level of Spanish to effectively participate, but everyone is welcome to attend. Children are also welcome, but parents should monitor conversations for appropriate content.
Tuesday lunchtime participants are welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch and come and go as their schedules allow.
We’ll have tea and sweet snacks on hand for Thursday evening meet-ups.
Habrá varios temas interesantes y juegos divertidos. Get to know other language learners while practicing conversations within Spanish or English. We’ll choose themes and games that will be entertaining and interesting to all of us.
    • No hay que registrarse. No registration required.
Meeting is held upstairs in the Unquiet Study Area.
