Amazon will now pay for employee’s classes at Front Range Community College.

The college, with locations in Longmont, Westminster and Larimer County, has been approved as a new education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, providing hourly Amazon employees access to the college’s degree and certificate options.

Amazon Career Choice provides prepaid tuition at Front Range Community College for Amazon employees. The program offers employees access to annual funds for education as long as they remain at the company, with no limit to the number of years they can benefit.

In addition to funding certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees, Amazon also funds high school completion, GEDs and ESL proficiency certifications.

“We are incredibly proud to be selected as an educational partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program,” FRCC President Colleen Simpson said in a release. “Our teachers can’t wait to help Amazon employees continue their education and learn the skills they need for career advancement.”

The release said Amazon chose FRCC through its rigorous selection process for third-party educators as part of its Career Choice program, sharing Amazon’s focus on helping employees through education programs, assisting with job placements and offering education that leads to career success.

“Having Front Range Community College on board as an education partner for Career Choice adds to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,” said Tammy Thieman, global program lead of Amazon’s Career Choice program. “We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers.”

FRCC also offers individual support including academic advising, tutoring, help with writing and math, child care assistance, career counselling, disability support and more. Spring classes, which include online courses, start Jan. 17 at the college.

Amazon has invested $1.2 billion in the U.S. to upskill more than 300,000 employees by 2025, the release said. Over 90,000 Amazon employees worldwide have already participated in Career Choice.

“We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers,” Thieman said. “We have intentionally created a partner network of third-party educators and employers committed to providing excellent education, job placement resources, and continuous improvements to the experience.”
