James “Jim” Berthold is running for a second and term-limited time for District C on the St. Vrain Valley Board of Education.
Berthold earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. He also served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. He spent 30 years working in Washington D.C. for the General Services Administration, House Appropriations Committee and the Department of Justice.
Soon after he retired from working for the federal government, he returned to Colorado where he worked for SVVSD for 11 years.
He decided he wanted to “run for the Board because I saw how the District positively impacted so many of our next generation, and because they had provided my youngest daughter such assistance and consideration to overcome her ADHD,” Berthold said.
If elected, Berthold plans to “continue the District’s goal to provide each and every n the District the opportunity to develop to their highest potential and become contributing citizens. My focus when on the Board will be to fulfill, to the best of my ability, that same proposition as well as one of my own personal areas of interest which is special needs,” he said.
