Alan Devan Garris, 72, of Clayton, North Carolina died April 19, 2021 in Longmont, Colorado encircled by his daughters Nicole and Kristen.
Mr. Garris was born March 13, 1949, in Clayton, NC to Billie and Pattie Garris. After graduating from high school he joined the Army and served in Vietnam and Korea. Alan is survived by his daughters Nicole Black of Las Cruces, NM and Kristen Gay (Christian) of Firestone, CO and Heather Baker of Goldsboro, NC and son Bryan Burnett (Dawn) of Huntsville, AL, sisters Diane Harrison (Kenneth) of Sanford, NC and Janet Morris (Jimmy) of Garner, NC; 10 grandchildren Nicolas Garris, Jennifer Weaver, Ashley Hayes, Taylor Burnett, Briana Black, Faith Baker, David Baker, Lexie Gay, Tyler Black, and Emma Gay; and 6 great-grandchildren Jamie, Peyton, Hayden, Tanner, Amelia, and Navaeh.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Alan’s beloved service dog, Max, has been adopted by Kristen and Christian. A memorial will be held in Clayton, North Carolina in the coming months.
