Albert Cabrera, MD, age 90, known as Bert to his friends, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2021, in Loveland, Colo.

He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in the Philippines to Demetrio and Pacita Cabrera and was the oldest of three children. He attended the University of Santo Tomas where he received his Medical Doctorate. He practiced as a surgeon and became a Provincial Chief of Hospital in Iloilo, Philippines. He emigrated to the United States with his wife and seven children in 1974 where he repeated his surgical residency. He practiced medicine and surgery in Elkhart and McPherson, Kan., where he was beloved as a physician. He was an inspiration to many including friends, associates, and the youth in the community, several of whom became physicians themselves. He retired in Loveland, Colo. He loved to hunt, golf, play tennis, and travel around the world, but being a doctor was his true passion in life. Bert was an honorable man with high ideals, steadfast in his belief of moral and ethical principles, and a strong proponent in instilling family values. He is the cornerstone upon which his family is built upon. Bert was also known as a very kind, generous, and jovial person, and a good friend to many who were blessed to have known him.

 He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Siony Generoso. He is survived by his loving wife Naty Cabrera of Loveland to whom he was married for more than 60 years; his children, Nerissa Maize and husband Steve; Albert Cabrera and wife Brenda; Arthur Cabrera and wife Cheri; Anthony Cabrera and wife Johna; Alan Cabrera and wife Kerri; Arnold Cabrera; and Nanette Colip and husband Mike; as well as grandchildren Ryan Maize; Keenan and Haley Cabrera; Alex, Adam and Alana Cabrera; Jordan Cabrera and wife Katie, Jaxon and Jarett Cabrera; Lauren and Cameron Cabrera; and Parker, Grace, and Avery Colip; sister Nelia Hervas and spouse Eliseo, along with many nieces and nephews. 

 Funeral Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fort Collins, Colo., on Friday, May 28, 2021. Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow immediately at Loveland Burial Park. The family will greet friends from noon to 2:30 p.m. at a memorial celebration at a location to be determined. Memorials can be made in Bert’s name to the Alzheimer's Association.
