Alice Thelma Bowers Spayd passed away peacefully in Longmont, CO on February 15, 2021. She was 95 years old.
Alice was born on December 13, 1925 in Hudson, CO to Susie Rapp and Harry Bowers. She grew up on a small farm near Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School. On June 24, 1945, Alice married Vernon Carl Spayd in Brighton, CO. Together, Alice and Vernon brought into the world three beautiful daughters and raised them on a farm south of Hudson. Vernon passed away in 1990 and Alice moved to Longmont in 1994.
As a young woman, Alice worked as a telephone operator. In 1965, she began work as a clerk for the Adams County Division of Motor Vehicles in Brighton. She continued this work until her retirement in 1992. Alice was of Protestant Faith. She enjoyed quilting and canning; and even traveling in her earlier years. Above all else, Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved and she will be missed.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; daughter, Carla Spayd, who died in 1966; and sisters, Martha Lank, Arlie Swan, Kathryn Bowers, and Vitha Reynolds. She is survived by her daughters, Verna (Harold) Sigg, and Kathy (Terry) Seelhoff; grandchildren, Clint (Julianne) Sigg, Doug (Vicki) Sigg, Fred (Kelly) Seelhoff, and Brenda Wilson; great-grandchildren, Clint, Jr., Jacqui, Alex, Brooke, Sofia, Aim’ee (Keaton), Ambur (Meghan), Katie, and Camy; and her great-great-grandchildren, Skye and Elena.
A private Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO. Due to the ongoing pandemic, services will be invite only.
