Amanda Jeanne Ormsby Hudson, 33, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, after a four-year battle with an extremely rare and painful cancer with her Mom and Grandma by her side.   Amanda was born April 12, 1989, in Longmont, Colorado to John and Sharon (Sanford) Hudson.  She grew up in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School in 2007.  Amanda had a beautiful singing voice.  She was a member of the Longmont Children’s Chorale for many years and while in high school she was a member of Bel Canto, the honor choir.  She enjoyed all types of musicals and would encourage her friends and family to join her in singing songs from many of her favorite shows.

Amanda’s greatest joys were her two nephews, Brayden, and Taylor, whom she absolutely adored.  They had many silly and fun times together over the years.  Her other love was her goldendoodle, Finnegan, who was her baby.  Finny spent the two years they had together loving on her and snuggling with her on the days when she was struggling the most with her pain.  He was a tremendous gift given to her at just the time she needed him most.

Amanda was a sweet, silly, extremely sarcastic, loving person with beautiful blue eyes.  She loved the Broncos, turtles, and Llamas.  She was able to travel to Mexico with her parents many years and participate in the releasing of baby sea turtles.  She said it was one of the happiest things she had ever done.

Amanda was called “the baby whisperer” because she could get any baby or toddler to settle down.  She loved being around children and making them smile.  She worked several years in preschools and as a nanny before she ventured into the banking world.  She worked at Elevations Credit Union where she was honored as “Teller of the Month” and “Teller of the Year”.   Amanda was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and loved to celebrate anything Irish.  She really wanted to go to Ireland and see where her Papa (grandpa) was from.

Amanda is survived by her parents, of Firestone, her brother Josh and his wife Vicki and nephews Brayden and Taylor of Loveland, her grandmother, “Mama” (Barbara Sanford) of Penrose, her Aunt Susan (David) Sanford-Lahti from Hawaii, Uncle Bryan (Julia) Sanford from Penrose, Aunt Ellyn Sanford-Rush from Berthoud, Aunt Donna (Todd) Karlik from Grand Junction, Uncle Jon (Diane) Sanford from Dallas.  She is also survived by 18 cousins and 13 second cousins, and her dear Pup Finnegan. She is survived by many, many good friends, who she loved tremendously.   Amanda was preceded in death by her grandfather “Papa”, Ed Sanford, her Uncle “Beve” Steve Sanford, Uncle Ed Hudson and her grandparents Merritt and Jeanne Hudson.

We would like to thank all the special people at Tru Hospice who helped her Mom care for her in her last months, and all of Amanda’s dear friends who stood by her side (or the phone texting and messaging her) while she fought this terrible disease.  She was a fighter right up to the end of her life, always hoping something would be found to stop this cancer in its tracks, despite having to endure 4 surgeries and becoming paralyzed in July of this year.

A celebration of Amanda’s life will be held Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at the Lafayette Brewing Market Event Center (2770 Dagny Way, Lafayette) at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, Amanda asked that donations be made to either St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research or Tru Community Care Hospice in her name.
