Amy Jo was born November 17, 1966 to Nancy and Jerry Westbrook. She was raised in Loveland and graduated from Loveland High School in 1985. Amy attended UNC for nursing and soon realized she wanted to be an occupational therapist. She transferred to CSU where she graduated to become an occupational therapist in 1992.
Amy married her high school sweetheart Jesse Zubia in 1990. Amy and Jesse had two children, Christian born in 1993 and Nicole born in 1995. Amy loved being Mom as it was her most important job. She worked as an OT at many different facilities most of her working life.
Amy loved the fall season most of all. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Amy was an artist from a young age. She loved drawing. Snoopy was her favorite thing to draw, and even painted a mural of him in art lessons. She created beautiful memory albums before scrapbooking ever became popular. Amy also enjoyed playing tennis. In 1984, Amy was Homecoming Queen at LHS. She was an au pair in France one summer, and spent time in Germany with Jesse. After visiting him while he was stationed there, she was to return home. She checked her bags at the airport and boarded the plane. Before the plane took off, she de-boarded and decided to stay with her sweetheart. Her luggage left without her. In her adult life, Amy loved country music and was a country dancing fanatic. She loved anything country – boots, sunflowers, hats, and even cowboys. Amy loved doing for others, especially mailing cards for every occasion – or even for no reason at all. She always wanted others to know she was thinking of them. In her short 55 years, she let so many people know she loved them with cards, phone calls, and hugs. Her heart gave out on September 16, 2022.
Amy is survived by her children Christian (Erin) Zubia of Henderson, NV; Nicole (Grant) Mooney of Morrisville, NC; her parents Jerry and Nancy Westbrook of Loveland; her sister Marcia Westbrook of Loveland; her brother Mike (Jo Dee) Westbrook, nephew Lucas and nieces Allison and Molly, all of Loveland; and her two cherished doggies Chesney and Levi.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Christ’s Church of the Rockies, 310 N Cleveland Ave, Loveland, CO. Memorial gifts may be made to Christ’s Church of the Rockies in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
