Arlene Jones Owens passed, age 87, passed away June 23,  2023, in Broomfield Colorado after a courageous battle with Vascular Dementia.

Formally from New Smyrna Beach, Fla Arlene went to High School in New Smyrna, was crowned Ms. New Smyrna Beach and was a loyal friend to all those who knew her. She married William Owens and had 2 wonderful daughters. She loved the beach, gardening, swimming, family gatherings and was able to see both of her grandchildren born when she moved to Lakewood Colorado in 2002. She was a devoted friend, wife and mother and loved all things, nature and outdoors. She also was an avid artist and loved to paint and draw, enjoyed cooking, going to the beach and had a beautiful yard and pool when she resided in Nokomis Fla.

Arlene was born on August 1st, 1935, and was preceded in death by her parents, Emily Frances Jones & Arlin Jones.

Arlene is survived by her sister Judy Fitzgerald of Bradenton, Fla, daughters Carolyn Smith of Thornton, CO, Judy Donley, in Kansas, son in law David Smith of Thornton, CO and 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Brendon Smith of Thornton.CO.

Her parents were Emily France Jones and Arlin Jones both of New Smyrna Beach both deceased. Her daughters are Carolyn Smith of Thornton CO and Judy Donley of Burr Oak KS. She has a sister, Judy Fitzgerald married to Buck Fitzgerald and 2 nieces, Kim Fitzgerald, and Lisa Fitzgerald and nephew Mike Fitzgerald, all of Bradenton Fla. Son in Law David Smith and 2 grandchildren, Christopher Smith and Brendon Smith, all of Thornton CO.

There will be a brief service on Wednesday 7/19 at 10am at Edgewater New Smyrna Beach Cemetery and an informal gathering afterwards at Dustin’s BBQ in Edgewater. The family invites you to make donations to the Dementia Society of America in honor of Arlene.
