Barbara Mullaney, 79, was a long time resident of Northern Colorado. She passed away suddenly on Jan. 4, 2022 while on vacation with her husband Bill in St. George's, Grenada in the Caribbean. She was born in Devol, Ok, the youngest of 10 children. Immediately following her high school graduation in Weatherford, OK, she moved with her parents and older sister to California. It was there that she met her husband of almost 59 years, Bill Mullaney. They married in 1963 and had two children, Tom and Maura while living in Lakewood, CA. In 1972, the family relocated to Loveland, where they lived for almost 20 years. At that time, Bill and Barbara moved to Windsor where they have lived since 1990.
Barbara was passionate about many things that connected her to the community. She served on the Art Committee at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church throughout the 1970's and 1980's, decorating the church for holidays and liturgical seasons. Her love for children led her to volunteer at a pre-school. She was a member of Curves in Loveland for many years, developing many friendships through her journey to better health. For the last 20 years, Barbara made jewelry which she sold to friends and at local craft shows.
Her true loves in life were her grandchildren, cooking and travel. The way she showed love for friends and family was often exhibited by making favorite meals or desserts on special occasions. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook some of her favorite recipes which are often referred to as "Granny Burritos" or "Granny Scones". She and Bill spent many years camping with close family friends. Since her husband's retirement, they enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean and South Pacific and sailing on small cruise ships. Bright sun, sandy beaches and warm breezes were her joy. She enjoyed sitting on the deck of a sailing ship, watching the ocean go by.
Her laugh and joy for life will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill; her children Tom and Iona Mullaney of El Paso, TX, Maura and Scott Wernimont of Lenexa, KS; her grandchildren Barbara Rambo, Laura Brownlowe, Catherine Mullaney, Kyle Wernimont, Alyssa Wernimont, and Addyson Wernimont; and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Rambo.
A funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
