September 25th, 1927 - January 23rd, 2022

Ben F. Chaney, 94, of Boulder, Colorado passed away at his son’s home on Sunday morning January 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and close family friend and caregiver Julia Berry. He was born on September 25, 1927, in Boulder, Colorado to Ben and Edith Chaney. After graduating from Boulder High School, Ben served his country as a Seaman Second Class in the US Navy. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Ben attended the University of Colorado, graduating in 1951, earning degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business. On June 23, 1951, Ben, and his high school sweetheart Mary Jean Popst were married in Boulder, Colorado.

Ben began his career with Studebaker Worthington Pump Company and culminated his successful career with Energy Repair Service, Inc., a company that he founded and ran for over 20 years until his retirement. Ben was recognized as one of the preeminent experts in the vertical pump industry and consulted with companies around the world up into his 90’s.

Ben loved spending time with his family, and adored his granddaughters Brittany, Chelby, and Reaghan. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Mary Jean in May 2013. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Jackson (Kim) and son Ben; granddaughter’s Brittany Jackson, Chelby Jackson and Reaghan Chaney; brothers-in-law Terry P. Gallagher, Sr and Norman Thompson; sister-in-law Carol Jo Thompson and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the Tru Community Care Hospice Team for their services, and a special thank you to his caregivers, Julia Berry, Jeremiah Johnson, and Bertina Gonzalez.

Services will be held at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary, 2969 Baseline Rd, Boulder, Colorado on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11am with a reception to follow. Interment will follow the reception at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave, Boulder Colorado.
