Betty Delores Thomas of Castle Rock/Windsor/Ft. Collins, CO, formerly of Griffith IN, passed away peacefully at her home on December 11, 2022, at the age of 91, with several children by her side.

   Betty was born on January 22, 1931, in Denver, IN.  She lived her early years in Denver and attended North Miami school district.  Later she would attend Ball State University where she met her future husband William (Bill) A. Thomas when Bill bought her a coke.  They were engaged on Valentine’s Day 1951, and wed on June 10 the same year at Jackson Street Christian Church in Muncie, IN. They were married almost 70 years.

   Betty and Bill had Six children, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband in 2016, daughter Laura Mahaney, 1998, great granddaughter Caroline Amber Gilbert and sister Evelyn Dock. Surviving children include: Charles Thomas (Elena), Debbi Spence, Susan Refner (Michael), Christopher Thomas (Kimmi), Stephen Thomas (Tina) and Michael Mahaney (son-in-law).  She is survived by her sister, Marian Marler (Cliff), brothers, Roger Dock (Eyvonne), Raymond Dock and David Dock (Charlotte).

   Betty and Bill lived the majority of their married life in Griffith, IN prior to retiring in Colorado in 1991. Betty loved life. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved sewing and reading well into her 90’s. She was a faithfully devoted Christian and enjoyed playing the piano and organ during the church services.  Betty also enjoyed working in the Griffith community at such places as San Remo restaurant, State Farm Insurance and she managed the Griffith License Bureau for many years. She was a member of the Griffith Christian Church before moving to Colorado.

   She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

   Funeral services will be presided by her brother, David Dock on December 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO 80537.  Viewing will take place prior to the service, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Windsor immediately following the funeral service where Betty will join her husband at their final resting place.
