July 3, 1957 - October 8, 2022

Boris Julius Illade (born José Angel Pérez Illade) of Westminster, Colorado passed away on October 8, 2022 in Lafayette, Colorado at the age of 65. Boris was born in Vivero, Spain. As an infant Boris moved with his family to San Juan, Puerto Rico where he lived the next several years.

Boris graduated with a degree in psychology from Florida State University and a few years later pursued teacher certification through The University of Texas at Austin. While living in Austin, Boris enjoyed spending time with his nieces Tamara and Elisa and nephew Julian.  During his 17 years as an intermediate and middle school bilingual educator, Boris worked in Fort Worth ISD, Dallas ISD, Denver Public Schools, Boulder Valley Public Schools and Jeffco Public Schools.

It was during his first teaching assignment in Fort Worth that he met his future wife, Diane.  Seven years later, Boris and Diane were married. A year later Boris experienced the first of the two happiest days of his life: the day he first became a father when his daughter Nadia was born and then two years later on the day his son Sebastian was born. When the children were young, Boris’ favorite activity was taking them to the park and playing with them in the backyard. He
loved attending Sebastian’s football games and watching Nadia perform in school musicals.  Boris, a member of MENSA, valued open minded debate and curiosity. He followed current events, often writing opinion letters to the newspaper. With the development of social media, he engaged in lively debate online on a variety of topics. Boris was an avid reader, always expanding his knowledge of the world. Boris loved Colorado. He especially enjoyed exploring small mountain roads on his motorcycle. In the winter, skiing was Boris’ favorite pastime. On Saturdays, Boris would be found cheering on his two favorite college football teams: the Texas
Longhorns and the Florida State Seminoles.

Boris will be remembered by his wife Diane, daughter Nadia, and son Sebastian of Westminster, Colorado; brother Francisco José of Madrid, Spain; sisters Carmen (Alberto) of Valencia, Spain and María Teresa (Raul) of Caguas, Puerto Rico; as well as aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Boris is preceded in death by his father José Angel and mother María Concepción.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
