March 8, 1934 ~ April 28, 2021 (age 87)

Carl Norman Weatherford passed away peacefully Wednesday April the 28th, 2021 at the age of 87 in Longmont, Colorado.

He was born on March 8th, 1934 to William and Margary Weatherford. As the 18th of 22 children, he learned from and admired the older ones, while nurturing and looking after the younger ones. He loved automobiles, antiques and building things. From building a motorized scooter using an old washing machine motor and bicycle parts, when he was 14, to working on old radios, Carl could always be found tinkering.

He married Betty Seibert on May 8th, 1952. They set up their new home together in Minturn, CO. He worked for several years for the city of Grand Junction before starting a career as a plumber. He worked for several companies including Rayback Plumbing, before running his own business as a plumber, where he enjoyed the privilege of installing the plumbing for several Kingdom Halls in the Longmont, Fort Collins, Loveland and Boulder areas. He took pride in everything that he did, and taught his children and grandchildren the joys of hard work.

Together Carl and Betty raised two girls, Joyce and Melda, and two boys, Wesley and Lynn. During that time, he came to know his God Jehovah. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on January 1, 1960, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Both Carl and Betty taught all four of their children to love Jehovah.

After raising their family in Boulder, Evergreen and Longmont, they moved with their youngest son Lynn, to Springfield, Oregon in 1985. During their 49 years of marriage, many wonderful and fun family memories were made. Like in the infamous Winnebago rambling down the coast to the beach, while listening to Ernest Tubb on an 8-track player.

Carl married Dorothy Trump in 2002 while living in Grand Junction, Colorado. In their 8 years of marriage, they enjoyed dancing and singing and going antiquing together, until her passing in 2010.

Carl was referred to as ‘friend, dad and mentor’ by his son Lynn, and as ‘favorite uncle’ by his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by all of his siblings, children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren as the ‘Sweet one who was always singing and whistling and loved to dance’ -or the one who ‘always insisted on helping you fix something.’

Carl is survived by his daughter Joyce and Tom Eggleston of Longmont, CO. His daughter Melda and Tim Hardin of Fruita, Colorado. His son Wesley and Brenda Weatherford of Springfield, OR. His Son Lynn and Fawn Weatherford of Springfield, OR. His Sister Mary Farmer of Shoreline, WA. His Brother Galen and Betty Smith of Fruita, CO. His sister Alice Fitzpatrick of Grand Junction, CO. His Sister Willa Edling of West Lake Village, CA. His Grandchildren Gordon, Shawn, Sonel, Kisa, Keaton, Jeff, Annabel, Megan, Ben, Caitlin, Savannah, Sophie, Lanie, Sela, Mariah. His Great grandchildren Brookes, Callem, Keynenn and Max. And many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial of his life will be shared via Zoom on Saturday June 5, 2021 @ 2pm.
