JUNE 25, 1970 – SEPTEMBER 28, 2020

une 25, 1970 - Sept 28, 2020

It saddens me to say that last week we lost an extraordinary member of our family. It is through tears and heartache I write this obituary. I just really want everyone to know the man that I was married to; the wonderful man that joined our family 25 years ago.

Carl was born in Richmond California on June 25, 1970. He eventually made his way to Rio Dell which is where he and I first met. The day I met Carl is the day my life forever changed. Our first years of marriage were spent in the Scotia / Rio Dell area where Carl worked in the lumber industry. In 2000 we packed up and moved to Colorado settling in Longmont. He got his Class A license and spent the rest of his working years driving long haul.He loved what he did and was able to provide us a good life doing what he loved.

Carl brought two children to our union and I brought four. He was such a good loving father to all of them, I could not have asked for a better loving father. He treated my children the same as his. Once we started having grandkids Carl found his calling...being a grandpa. He had a nickname for each one and loved to tease them. Nothing brought him more pleasure than spending time with family.

There was so much good in my husband as he truly loved God and was a man of faith. He was by my side as we started an organization called “Longmont Helping Hands” helping others who need a hand up.

Some of Carl’s favorite things beyond family were his love of NASCAR, Garth Brooks, flying drones, working in his garden, grilling on the bbq and visiting with neighbors. He is going to be missed by all who knew him. I cannot imagine trying to continue on without the man who was my rock, my everything. Life as we know it will never be the same.

I would like to thank everyone for their support and kindness through this difficult time. Thank you to all our children for stepping up and being there for me, I couldn’t have done this without you. The person I would like to thank most is my loving husband Carl, thank you so much honey for the precious memories you have left us all with. You will forever live on in our hearts.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 25 yrs, Melissa Bartley Brim. His 6 children Justin Brim, Tim (Amber) Holt, Virginia(Derek) Kinch, Katrina Brim, Katie Holt(Evan Champie) Jessica Wilson(Casey Woods). His grandchildren Jennifer, Michelle, Sharon and Aspen Kinch, Tyler, Caydence and Tristin Holt, Elizabeth Woods and Eris Champie. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Vera Shumard, and his brother-in-laws James(Tammi) Bartley and Brian Shumard. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and a nephew. Carl was proceeded in death by his mom, Linda Dean and his father-in-law Jimmy Shumard. Please copy and paste this link to view the live stream of the service. https://youtu.be/xtx8QJupwYU
