February 11, 1932 - December 18, 2020

Jesus called Carlton ‘Pete’ Garno home on December 18, 2020 at the age of 88.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, LouAnne. They had 5 children: Cindy (Jon) Platt, Sharon (Jim) Bishop, Doug (Sue) Garno, Paul (Kelly) Garno and Phil Garno. They have 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born and raised in Michigan always telling stories of being the oldest in a large family and proud of the legacy his Dad left. Garno Seed Company was a pioneer in the seed corn development in the 1930’s.

Shortly after joining the Navy he married LouAnne and they raised their older children in upstate New York. Pete loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, archery, hunting, fishing, gardening, and various Boy Scouts and 4-H projects with his family.

Pete & LouAnne moved to Loveland, Colorado in the mid 1970’s where they raised their younger children.  They have been parishioners at St. John’s Catholic Church since moving to Loveland and they owned The Pine Shop on 1st Street in Loveland for many years. Being meticulous with measurements and finishes, and staying focused until the job (any job!) was done made him an outstanding craftsman and cabinet maker.

In the 1980’s they moved to Crystal Lakes, Colorado and Pete became a volunteer fireman for the Fire Department. They lived happily in their ‘cabin in the woods’ for almost 10 years.

In the mid 1990’s he and LouAnne began wintering in Arizona where he added golfing to his outdoor loves.

In 2003 they moved back into Loveland where Pete continued to enjoy his outdoor activities and spend time with his family. He was a devoted family man, easy going, fun loving, always trying to lighten the mood of the day.

If you wish to honor Pete, please give a memorial contribution to Pathways Hospice or your favorite charity.
