Carolyn Anne Jannsen, 58, passed peacefully away with her husband and family by her side on Tuesday, March 16th at her home in Broomfield, CO.
People who knew Carolyn will always remember her for her sweet and kind demeanor, excellence in her work and unmatched love for her family.
Carolyn was born in Caledonia, Minnesota on May 12th, 1963 to Roger David Gustafson and Joan Mae Buchholz. Carolyn attended High School at Wausau West, in Wausau Wisconsin.
She then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin, at Madison, and her Masters in Education at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. She worked in Dietetics in Wisconsin where she met lifelong friends. Carolyn and Thomas met in 1988 and married in 1989, they shared 32 beautiful years of marriage together.
Carolyn and family moved to Broomfield, Colorado in 2000 and spent 21 years building their life and family home. To be close to her children, Carolyn was very active in their school, Peak to Peak Charter in Lafayette, Colorado. Her contributions in the early years of the school will be present many classes to come. This work helped her discover her passion and talent for Philanthropy. She continued forward and her final position was Executive Director of the Platte Valley Medical Center Foundation in Brighton, Colorado. Carolyn planted roots with her work in Brighton and truly appreciated the community – as shown in the annual Farm to Table Fundraiser she planned for the Medical Center’s campaign for Comprehensive Cancer Care.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Thomas Martin Jannsen; children, Katrina (William), Thomas and Sarah; and her siblings, Julie (Michael) Gavin, Thomas (Kathy) Gustafson and Linda (Jeffrey) Wollerman; and three step grandchildren, Arielle, William and Pennellopy Nieser. She is further survived by her Mother-in-Law, Jolene Jannsen; her brother and sister in law; many nieces and nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am where you may be also. – John 14
