September 17, 1927 - January 30, 2021

Mrs. Charlotte F. Mullison died of natural causes on January 30, 2021, in Aurora, CO, at home with her daughter’s family. She was 93 years old.

Born in Hastings, Nebraska, in September 1927, Charlotte also lived in North Platte and later attended North Platte Business School, graduating in 1946. She met her husband, E. Paul Mullison, while he was working at Berthoud Pass, Colorado’s first formalized ski area and site of the state’s first chair lift. They married in 1948. After a fire destroyed several of the ski lodge buildings during some construction, the couple moved to Wray, Colorado, where they bought the Shady Rest Grocery Store.

With their children nearly grown, Charlotte and Paul acquired Renotta Nursing Home in 1971, which they ran for 15 years; that facility is now known as Hillcrest Care Center & The Towers. Paul, a WWII Army veteran who served in the Pacific, died in 1982. In the decades that followed, Charlotte kept busy both in and outside the home. She was a member of New Life Christian Center, currently led by Pastor Glen Kline. She also founded the local Meals on Wheels program, and delivered many of the meals herself until her health would no longer allow it. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She also became a regular participant at Wray’s Senior Center and the local health activity center (the WRAC). She moved to Denver in 2014 in order to be close to family.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Paul, as well as her parents Iris and William Harold (“Curly”); her siblings Robert, Wayne, Patricia, and Mary; her sisters-in-law and close friends, Trudy Mullison-Grabowski, Thelma Neuschwanger, and Arlene Lyon; and her son-in-law Dwane Falconer.

Those who remain to celebrate Charlotte’s life include her children, Susie Falconer of Duluth, MN; Eddie (Verona) Mullison of Highlands Ranch, CO; Diane (Gary) Whetstone of Athens, GA; Blll (Lydia) Mullison of Madison, AL; and Candy (Rex) Clabaugh of Aurora, CO. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
