JANUARY 26, 1953 – MARCH 5, 2023

Cheri Lyn Cook, 70, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at her home in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Denver, January 26, 1953. Cheri attended Ranum High School and Metropolitan State College. She worked for the State of Colorado, and as an office administrator for a Denver water technology firm.

Cheri married John Cook in 1993. John and Cheri were inseparable for over 30 years. As constant companions, John and Cheri shared experiences related to his employment as a manager for the State of Colorado. Also, their travels took them by RV to special camping locations in Colorado, as well as to visit friends and relatives in the Midwest and East coast. They lived in the Denver area until retirements in 2003, and then moved to Loveland in 2014. Cheri enjoyed the peacefulness of Loveland, but mostly the kind and gracious neighbors.

Cheri loved to read. She would read 3 or more books every week. She was a big fan of Nora Roberts, plus many other authors in various categories of fiction. Cheri loved her plants and flowers, From her 25-year-old dieffenbachia to special orchids. She could have operated a thriving nursery business. And cooking was her specialty; from chili rellenos to spicy wings. Even simple scrambled eggs were deliciously unequaled. Cheri was drawn to the outdoors, in the form of remote campsites and gorgeous landscapes. She delighted in experiencing such marvels as Mount Rushmore at night, to any lighthouse on the East Coast. The memories she takes with her could fill volumes. Cheri was an animal whisperer; everything from stray dogs to goats. That’s why she enjoyed so much visiting Marcia and Charlie, John’s sister and brother-in-law in Illinois. Marcia has goats and roosters and fish and more. Cheri was a friend to them all. It was the same with people; all living things loved Cheri, and she loved them all. And there was no animal she loved more than Brandy, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Cheri is survived by a daughter, Tina Martin, and grandchildren Andrew (Alissa) Martin, Patrick Martin Jr. (Kelly), Niki Bee Martin, and Johnny. Also, brother Steven Tygart, and Great Grandson Patrick Martin III (who was the “apple of her eye”). In addition, Cheri is survived by, and was step-mother to Jennifer Murray (New Hampshire), Chris Cook (Massachusetts), and Stacy Bott (Colorado); plus step-grandmother to Dylan and Max Cook (Massachusetts), and Ashton and Kaylie Bott (Colorado). Cheri could list the birthdates of all, without a moment's hesitation. Her prior marriages included Patrick Richardson.

Cheri is preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Berneda (Bee) (Sloan) Tygart, and by 2 brothers, Darryl Tygart and David Tygart.
