August 2, 1944 - November 22, 2023

Dale Ivin Currey was born August 2, 1944 to Cyrus William Currey and Katherine Ivis (Brown) Currey in Garden City, Kansas.

After graduating in 1962 from Sublette High School, Sublette, Kansas, he attended college at Gulf Coast Bible College, Houston, Texas enjoying his participation in a travelling quartet.  He decided college was not for him and ended up working at a large paper mill in Bastrop, Louisiana until his father died in 1970.  At that time, he came home to run the family farm.

On October 30, 1970, he married Jeanne Ann (Gray) Sebree in Wichita Kansas, lovingly welcoming stepdaughter Kristen Marie Sebree, born June 25,1968, to the farm with her mother.   Dale and Jeanne had one daughter Nicole Elizabeth Currey, born February 13, 1972 in Garden City Kansas.  Dale and Jeanne farmed until the fall of 1988 when they moved to Colorado with Dale starting a truck driving career.

Dale married Anne Thomasson on August 1, 1990, in Conifer, Colorado.  Shortly after getting married, they moved to a farm at Eaton, Colorado, where they would live for the next 25 years, and eventually moved closer to Nicole in 2021.

Dale found sobriety on December 26, 1975, through Alcoholics Anonymous, serving in local and state A.A. positions and helping others for over 40 years.

Dale passed away November 22, 2023 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Wray Colorado.  He is survived by daughters Nicole Elizabeth (Patrick) Dolezal of Yuma, Colorado, Kristen Marie (Jeffrey) Sanders of Edmond, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Jessica and Jaden Mast, Tyler (Bri), Bryce (Shelby), and Sydney Sanders, and two great grandchildren; Teagan & Tenley, and niece, Kathi (Pat) Dozart of Benton, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Anne, sister, Vora Lee Lofland, and nephew, Von Lofland.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, Kansas with Pastor Pat Dozart officiating.  Private family interment at Haskell County, Kansas cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dale Currey Memorial Fund. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
