David Lynn Smith, 67, of Broomfield, CO, unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 18th, 2023..
David was born on February 14th, 1956 to Mildred McClure and James Smith in Kansas City, MO. After David graduated from Plato High School in 1974, he went on to study biomedical technology at "MIT" (Missouri Institute of Technology). After graduating with a bachelor's degree and became a certified biomedical technician. After many years of being a service technician traveling around the United States, he settled into a hospital setting at National Jewish with HSS working alongside many esteemed colleagues for 20 years. Earlier this year, David retired and spent his time helping his wife's aging parents and bringing a little laughter to the other residents of the care facility. He was also very involved at church and spending time with family. He enjoyed reading, watching reruns of Star Trek, playing on the computer and keeping his wife on her toes.
In the 1970's, David met his first wife Janeice and they married in 1979. David and Janeice went on to have four amazing daughters: Kandis, Cassandra, Jacqueline and Erica. In 2002 David was devastated by the loss of his wife and mother of his children.
.David went on to meet Sylvia Martindale, an amazing and kind woman who said yes to his proposal and joined the Smith family in 2006.
David is survived by his wife Sylvia, children Kandis, Cassandra (David), Jacqueline (Andrew Sr) and Erica (James), grandchildren Thomas, Sarah Anne, Jaxton, Angelica (Scott), Andrew Jr (Jessica) and his first great grandchild, Nova, as well as his sister Patti.
Services will be held at the LDS church located at 1250 Main St, Broomfield, CO 80020 on Saturday, December 23rd with a viewing from 10 am to 11 am and the service starting at 11 am. We will be streaming the service for those who are unable to attend in person.
