Donald E Burow, Local Character For Over Seven Decades, Dies at 88.

The year 1933 was notable for numerous important events, including: The groundbreaking ceremony for the Golden Gate Bridge, first sighting of the Loch Ness Monster, invention of the board game Monopoly, original movie premiere of King Kong, and the birth of Donald E Burow.

Born in the midst of the Great Depression, Don spent the first sixteen years of his life in Iowa before moving to Colorado. He graduated from Loveland High School, married, and was blessed with four wonderful daughters, as they frequently reminded him. Don was often heard to say that one of his greatest challenges in life was raising daughters in a one bathroom house.

(His daughters wonder if this was why the backyard peach tree died.)     Don loved camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time in the Rocky Mountains with family and friends. Thanks to his skills and eagle eyes, Don was often able to put food on the table when groceries and finances were sparse. In his later years, Don could often be found sitting on his front porch, visiting with friends, admiring nature, and watching life being lived on his small patch of earth. Don stated that his primary goal in life was to be of service to others and this is where he invested his time, energy, and wisdom.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Gwen, daughter Cindy, parents Otto and Emma Burow, and many good friends. Don is survived by his flip phone, dusty computer, his brother Ronald, three daughters (Sherry Birchwell, Jody Crider, and Dawn Joy Crossman), two wonderful son-in-laws (Craig Crider and Mark Crossman), three stepchildren (Daniel Durr, David Durr, and Kathy Weed), three generations of grandchildren, and a multitude of friends.

Don’s memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, August 6, 2022, at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 N Garfield Ave, Loveland, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made at Catch-A-Dream in Don B’s name.   https://igfn.us/vf/DONB  , or by texting keyword DONB to 71777.
