Donna L. Peres of Longmont Co. went to be with the angels December 13, 2023 in Boulder Co. She was 85.
Donna was born March 13, 1938 in Brule, NE to Lawrence E. and Irene D. (Jonson) Peres. Donna spent her early years in Brule attending elementary through high school. After graduating from Brule High School, Donna attended Kearney State College studying business. Donna moved back to Brule and began her almost 50-year career in banking. Starting out in the basement of the Bank of Ogallala sorting checks, she eventually moved to the teller line. This move also led her to look for banking opportunities elsewhere and she found this in Colorado. She worked various positions at banks in Boulder and Denver before retiring from the audit department in Denver.
Donna had many passions. Card playing, coin collecting, trips to Blackhawk, scratch tickets, game shows, puzzles and poker were just a few. She loved traveling, seeing things a small-town girl could only dream of. She was a fan of the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. Donna’s all-time favorite team was the mighty CU Buff’s women’s basketball team. She was a season ticket holder for many years and didn’t like to be interrupted if her lady Buffs games were being televised.
Donna was a strong fighter, but she is now on a journey to the places we cannot see. She is free from pain and is once again hiking and skiing in the clouds. She is on the floor playing with her four-legged fur babies, the way she did years ago. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Irene Peres, brothers Lawrence Jr. Peres and Lyle Peres, sisters Elaine Browning and Shirley Reichenberg. She is survived by nieces Lin, Judy, Kristi, Lana, Angie, Kim and Karen. Nephews Steve, Larry and Kirk as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Donna is also survived by her sister from another mother, Sarah Archuleta.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held January 3 rd 2024, 11:00 am at The Village Place. If you wish to attend sporting your favorite CU Buffs attire, Donna would love it and hope she had converted you to a fan. Please bring along a favorite memory or story to share with everyone.
