May 7, 1929 - April 16, 2022
Dorothy (Dot) Belcher, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2022, in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her family by her side. Cremation has occurred, and a Celebration of Life will be held on May 7th, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at the Edwards House B & B Lodge, 402 West Mountain Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80521, with Father Bob Manasek officiating.
On May 7, 1929, Dot was born in LaSalle, Colorado, to John and Amelia Uhrich. She was one of six children who helped on the family farm. At an early age, she learned the art of cooking traditional German dishes and pies – her specialty for many years. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1947 and soon after met the love of her life, William (Bill) Belcher, shortly after his return from WWII. On March 7, 1948, the two were married in Greeley, Colorado. Together, they had two children, Greg (Number #1 Son) and Cindy (Favorite Daughter). Dot and Bill worked side by side, building their business, Belcher Office Supply, in Loveland, Colorado. They met many lifelong friends and associates, proving that hard work has many rewards. Dot and Bill enjoyed many good times at their cabin in Red Feather Lakes. After retirement, they moved to Mesa and later to Green Valley, Arizona, golfing, traveling, and enjoying their time together.
Dot was an avid bridge player, meeting many of her closest friends at the card table. She was always the best hostess. She loved to plan parties, prepare excellent meals, and share a glass of wine with her guests. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, including many nieces and nephews. Her granddaughters, Tami and Darby, were the light of her life. She enjoyed teaching them card games, making ravioli, and taking special trips with her “little girls.” She was lovingly known as Gigi to her four great-grandchildren, Dossi, William, Olive, and Jonah.
Dot moved back to Colorado in 2015 to be closer to her family. She lived at MacKenzie Place in Fort Collins, where she met many wonderful friends and compassionate caregivers. We will never forget her beautiful smile and her love of people.
Dot is survived by her children Greg Belcher (Leslie Vogt), Cindy Dickinson (Dan), grandchildren Tami Chambers (Dan), Darby Brender (Nate), great-grandchildren Dossi, William, Olive, and Jonah, and many other family members and friends.
Dot is preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents John and Amelia, brothers John, Harold, Don, Harvey, and sister Alvina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80525.
