Dorothy “Dottie” (Tate) Mitchell, 82, of Fort Collins, passed peacefully July 24th, 2023, at home. Dorothy was born May 26, 1941, in Fort Collins to Harry and Jean Tate. When she was five years old her family moved to a farm in Laporte, CO.  Dorothy graduated from Laporte High School in 1959 and remained in the area. She retired from the CSU housing department as a supervisor after being there for 20 years. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, canning, and she was an amazing organizer. In spite of her many health issues which began in the late 1990s, Dorothy always had a positive outlook and a smile on her face.

One of Dorothy’s greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren’s lives. Dorothy always supported and cheered on everyone’s adventures. She had a very kind and caring heart.

Dorothy leaves behind daughters Kelly (Chadwick) Hallenbeck of Fort Collins, CO, Jodi Mitchell of Wellington, CO, and Ann Moe of Irvine, CA, stepson Scott (Mary) Mitchell of Fort Collins, CO. Grandchildren Branden, Chad Lee, Makaela, Jordan, Amanda and Allie. Great grandson Everett. Siblings Donna (Gary) Dixon and Bob (Ann) Tate. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Preceding her in death were her parents Harry and Jean Tate, husband Joe Mitchell and infant son. Family and friends truly meant everything to Dorothy. A Buddhist Dharma Rite will be performed in Long Beach, CA. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
