Duane C Shearer passed away peacefully at his home in Longmont Colorado on February 19, 2021.
He was born April 19, 1927 on the family farm near New Florence PA to the late Bertha (Dick) and Wilson Shearer. Duane served in the Air Force and graduated from Muskingum College. He married Dorothy L Johnson in 1953, moved to Tallmadge OH and began his engineering career at Goodyear Aerospace. After retiring, they moved from Tallmadge Ohio to North Port Florida and then to Longmont Co in 2009.
Duane had a long and happy life. He loved God, his family, traveling, gardening, reading and playing cards. He was very active in the Presbyterian Church both in Akron Oh and North Port FL
Duane is survived by daughters Elaine Schmidt of CO and Nancy (Richard) Holden of CA, daughter-in-law Nancy Baker Shearer of FL, his grandchildren Joshua Shearer, Jeremiah Shearer, Erika Schmidt and Maggie Schmidt, brother Glenn Shearer: as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, son William (Bill) D. Shearer, and brother Donald Shearer.
The family would like to thank the supportive staff at the Longmont Regent and the caring professionals of Bristol Hospice. We are grateful for the many friends and neighbors who provided countless acts of kindness.
Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
