Eldred "Mickey" M. Alexander

Lifelong Colorado resident, Eldred M. (Mickey) Alexander, 96, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 5th, 2021.  His wife, Elvia, and his two sons were by his side.  Mickey was born the son of Elmer Alexander and Isabelle (Nevans) Alexander in Center, CO.  Mickey served in the 3rd army, 10th armored division during WWII and met his sweetheart, Elvia, by war correspondence.  During the war, he found comfort by reading the Psalms. After the war, he went to Alabama to meet her, and they were united in holy matrimony in June 1946.  The two lived in the San Luis Valley where they farmed.  Mickey went into the insurance business in 1956 and owned Alexander Insurance Agency until 2010.  He loved his many clients in the insurance business.  Mickey was a 40 year life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  

In his leisure times, Mickey would take his children and wife on special fishing and hunting adventures, and was an avid gardener. He taught many people the knack of flyfishing and wrote a book called ‘Mickey’s Fly Fishing Tips’ .  Mickey and Elvia traveled to several nations doing missions, sharing the message of the love of Christ.  He was an active member and deacon of two Assembly of God churches.  They moved to Pueblo from the San Luis Valley in 2003 and then moved to Loveland in 2018.

His is survived by his wife, Elvia Alexander of 74 years; sons, Mike (Julie) Alexander of Loveland, CO and Jimmy (Anne) Alexander of Elbert, CO; grandchildren, Charity (Chris) Mattke, Michelle (Jason) Gist, Matthew Alexander; step-grandchildren, Morgan (Matt) Musser, Jessica (Mark) Pratt, Jamie Stewart; great-grandchildren, Caleb Alexander, Kaitlyn Gist, Haleigh Alexander, Alexander Gist, Gabrielle Alexander; step-great-grandchildren, Cade Mattke, Maya Musser, Micah Musser, Hendrix Pratt.

He is also survived by two sisters, Nora Millhouse and Clydena Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Isabelle Alexander; brothers, Harold Alexander, Roy Alexander; sisters, Gladys Hunter, Kathryn Hall; grand-daughter, August Alexander; one daughter-in-law, Vickie Alexander.

Burial will be a private family ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO, with military honors. There will also be a public memorial service at Praise Assembly church, 2000 Troy Ave., Pueblo, CO, on May 27th at 10 am with lunch following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Praise Assembly church, Alexander Ministries International - missions, or Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing, in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N.
