Hedgecock

Evelyn Mary Hedgecock reunited with her mother, Betty, and niece, Toni, in heaven on June 7, 2022. She passed with peace and grace as family stood by her side.

Though she lost the battle against ovarian cancer, she won over the hearts of everyone she met with her bubbly, loving personality and quick-witted charm. Her memory will live on through her husband and high-school sweetheart of over 50 years, Hoyt Hedgecock. Her children, Candida, Hoyt Matthew, and Sarrah will also keep her in their hearts, along with her eight grandchildren, Jayda, Alexander, Taonna, Olivia, Kamera, Hoyt Wyatt, Phoebe, and Armana.

Evelyn was born on March 14, 1957 and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri with her younger sister Theresa. After marrying Hoyt, she had her first daughter Candi and moved to Italy where she was able to enjoy a European lifestyle and give birth to her son Matt. After returning to the United States, she obtained her CNA license as she developed a love for motorcycles and Star Trek, boldly going where no (wo)man has gone before! She enjoyed long rides and poker-runs with her husband on Yamahas and Harleys during her career as a CNA throughout her youth and prime. She touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of elders as she compassionately cared for them before they passed on.

After renewing her vows with Hoyt, she became pregnant and decided to continue pursuing motherhood instead of college to have her daughter, Sarrah. Not long after, her family moved to Colorado where she established a love for bowling, crocheting, and cake decorating. Every year she participated in Las Vegas bowling tournaments with her best friends, bringing home stories of her fun experiences that would have everyone smiling and laughing. She donated her hand-crocheted baby blankets to hospitals for newborns and crafted stunning cakes for family events. Evelyn was taken from us physically, but she is alive in spirit as her children, grandchildren, and husband are compelled to carry on.

Those that have known her know she was a living angel, and now she can rest while watching over those she loves. “The greatest danger facing us is ourselves, an irrational fear of the unknown. But there’s no such thing as the unknown – only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood.” – Captain Kirk from Star Trek.

A Public Viewing was held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Evelyn was laid to eternal rest in a Committal Ceremony at Foothills Gardens of Memory. Evelyn's family appreciates all those that were able to attend, those who sent flowers, and those otherwise who expressed their love and support. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy are appreciated and may be shared at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com for the Hedgecock Family.
