Everett R. Kowalke was born on November 30, 1948 in Goodland, Kansas to Paul H. Kowalke and Marie (Cress) Kowalke. He passed away January 17, 2022.

The family moved to Brighton, Colorado where Everett attended High School and then joined the United States Navy in December 1967 and was honorably discharged in December, 1969. After leaving the Navy, Everett met Leona (Gross) Kowalke and they married February 6, 1971. During their union the welcomed three children Paul H. Kowalke, born September 16, 1971, Jennifer M. Kowalke, born September 18, 1974 and Kimberly (Kowalke) Meier born July 6, 1979.

Everett and Leona moved to Wray, Colorado in 1973 where Everett began his farming and ranching career with Henry Wiltfang where he worked for several years before moving on to work for Aggie Farms until he passed.

Everett enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors but his favorite thing was his annual 10 day hunting trip that he took every year. There were many stories and memories made on those trips. Other hobbies include camping, riding his ATV’s,  taking care of his beloved cows and dogs and being a master chef at making his famous peanut butter caramel brownies and apple pies.

Everett is preceded in death by his father Paul H. Kowalke, mother Marie (Cress) Kowalke and brother-in-law Gene May.

He is survived in death by his sister Annie (Kowalke) May and children, sister Pauline (Kowalke) Ocker husband Larry and children, sister Kathy (Kowalke) Hauptman, husband David and children, Paul H. Kowalke, wife Carrie and son Tyler, daughter Jennifer Kowalke, husband TJ Fox and children Luke, Ashley, Dennis and Dalton, daughter Kimberly (Kowalke) Meier husband Steve and children Ellen, Andrew, Tyler and Ashley along with four great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Everett R. Kowalke will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Wray, Colorado on Saturday, March 19, 2022. In memory of Everett, there is a memorial account set up at First Pioneer National Bank.

Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
