Fred and Ted Fishburn, twins, were born in Loveland on October 10,1935 to Fred S. and Venita E. (Smith) Fishburn. They were baptized at the First United Presbyterian Church in Loveland and graduated from Loveland High School (now Bill Reed Jr Hi).
Fred was destined to be a minister of music and attended Colorado University in Boulder and later graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. His education continued at the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science; he returned to Loveland where he joined his aunt and uncle (Carl W. and Marie Kibbey) and his twin brother (Ted) with the existing Kibbey Funeral Home which later became Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
While in the funeral home business Fred was also able to serve as organist and choir director in the First Baptist Church, organist at First Christian Church, First Church of Christ Scientist and finally, Mountain View Presbyterian Church, where he was also choir director for several years as well as organist. Fred’s favorite day was Sunday (the Sabbath) and his greatest joy was playing the organ for church. He was also a charter member and elder of Mountain View Presbyterian Church.
In early and productive years, Fred was an active member of service and fraternal organizations in Loveland as well as several music organizations having served as their president and musician. He also received special “recognition of service” in these groups.
Fred married Joan Harris in Loveland and together they raised their three children, Diane Christine, Fredrick David and Jeffrey Harris Fishburn.
Fred is survived by Joan Fishburn for 63 years, sons Fred (BethAnn) Fishburn and Jeff (Chris) Fishburn, son in law John (Donita) Fogle, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and Dolores Fishburn. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Venita Fishburn, daughter Diane C. Fogle, twin grandchildren Hazel Mae and Mary Elizabeth, older brother Gene C. Fishburn, and twin brother Ted and wife Marilyn Fishburn.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Visitation will take place from 2-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26th at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home and at the church prior to the service. Interment Loveland Burial Park. The service will be live streamed at www.mymvpc.com.
