George Bernard Smith, of Superior, CO, passed away on May 2nd, 2021.

He was 80. Born August 5th, 1938 in Kingston, NY to parents Raymond Smith and Anna Debrosky Smith, George grew up with eight siblings in the town of his birth, ultimately graduating from Kingston High School in 1955. George then began his 35-year career with IBM in Kingston, also driving 100 miles each way to attend community-college classes in Albany. On June 7th, 1959, George married Elisabeth A. Smith in Rosendale, NY. The Smiths moved to the Boulder area in 1965 as George continued his work with IBM; in 1966, he began taking night-classes at the University of Colorado, Denver, culminating with a Business Administration degree.

George took great pride in his work with IBM; additionally, he found time to serve our country in the Army National Guard and the Coast Guard Reserves. He also prided himself a fisherman and golfer, retiring from the latter sport with a whopping thirteen aces in the bag. He also played softball, coached little league, and belonged to the Boulder Elks Lodge and the Louisville Rod & Gun Club. George was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Anna Smith; his sisters, Mary McConnel, Valerie Brown and Linda Smith; his brothers, Raymond Smith, Walter Smith, Clarence Smith and Kenneth Smith. He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth A. Smith; his brother, Arnold Smith (wife, Sherry) of Barefoot Bay, FL; his brother-in-law, John L. Smith of Kingston, NY; his sons, George B. Smith, Jr. (wife, Souraya) of Sherman Oaks, CA and James A. Smith (wife, Kaylene) of Greeley, CO; his daughters, Elisabeth Montoya (husband, John) of Lafayette, CO and Kim Smith of Westminster, CO. George is further remembered by nine grandchildren and many great-grand dogs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, May 6th, 2021, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder, CO 80303. A reception will follow the ceremony.
