August 22, 1941 ~ August 21, 2021 (age 79)

On Saturday, August 21, 2021, Gilroy Gene Fragale, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 79.

Gil was born on August 22, 1941, in Frederick, CO to Battista and Rosemary (Scarpella) Fragale. He graduated from Frederick High School where he played football and ran track. Gil was employed at Beech Aircraft for many years and received accolades from The National Aeronautics and Space Administration for his work on The Apollo 14 cryogenic gas storage system and for his service in Apollo 11’s successful mission of man’s first landing on the moon. After leaving Beech Aircraft he started his own successful painting business, followed by a tenure as a Deputy Sheriff at Weld County Sheriff’s Department, then finally hanging his hat at Safeway Distribution Center where he retired in 2006. He was also a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for the Frederick Fire Department, a member of the Lion's Club and attended Saint Theresa Catholic Church.

Gilroy had a passion for camping, fishing, and hunting and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gil was preceded in death by his father, Ben, mother, Rosemary, siblings John, Sally, Frank, Elizabeth, Betty, Delores, Theresa, Rita, Rosemary, and grandson, Zachariah.  He is survived by his five children, Debbie (Jeff) Womack, Diane (Mike) Toney, Fabius (Jennifer) Fragale, Carrie (Andy) Burns, and Jennifer Fragale; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
