September 7, 1965 ~ January 5, 2022 (age 56)

Helena “Nina” Luanne Wright, age 56 went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 5th 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at her home in Longmont Colorado. Nina was born September 7th 1965 in Waukegan Illinois to Judith Laub and Reynaldo “Rey” Fernandez. Nina attended local schools and worked primarily in the Lake County Illinois area until she met her future husband David in 1993.

Soon after in 1994 she followed him to Boulder Colorado where they lived and worked until 1997. They then moved to Kenosha Wisconsin where they were united in Marriage on May 15th 1998. They soon returned to Colorado where they made their home in Longmont for the last 23 years.

Employed by Vertafore for over 26 years as a Senior Content Specialist, Nina made many lifelong friends and personal connections. In the early 2000’s Nina received a Certificate in Accounting and an Associate’s degree in Applied Science with a focus on Accounting.

Nina enjoyed cross stitching, a hobby she shared with her aunt Lupe and friends for many years. Her love of stitching was evident in the multitude of beautifully finished pieces she accomplished over time. Nina spent a considerable amount of time fighting weeds and aphids in her rose garden (not always successfully) but appreciating the outcome nevertheless. Her little Shih-Tzu “Neko” was her constant companion and joy for the past 11 years. This was clear by the extensive wardrobe, toys and treat selections Neko enjoyed.

Nina also lovingly accepted the fact that she would need to use a Porto-potty while spending time at her and her husband’s off grid cabin in South Park. But this did not deter her from enjoying the peace and quiet with her husband and puppy.

On April 9th 2017, Nina and her husband were baptized together at Rocky Mountain Christian Church, professing their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Nina appreciated and cherished the immense outpouring of support and prayers from her brothers and sisters in Christ everywhere.

Nina is survived by her husband David, her mother Judith (Martin) Laub, her father Reynaldo “Rey” Fernandez, Sister Laura (Ron) Finley, Brother Andrew Laub, her aunts Bertha (Enrique) Eveline, Lupe (Luis) Luna, Nancy Franz, Nieces Katie (Eamon) Colwell, Erin (Joe) Hammond, Lyric-Monet Finley, Nephews Sean (Jennesa) Fahey Batai Finley, Story Finley, Mystery Finley and many cousins including Jason (Jancey) Reyna, Annali Luna, and Christina Luna.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services officiated by Pastor Shan Moyers at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th 2022 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church 9447 Niwot Road Longmont, CO 80503 Phone 303 652-2211
