APRIL 24, 1936 – APRIL 6, 2024

Howard Thomas Anderson, age 87, formerly of Claremont, MN, passed away on April 6, 2024, in Loveland, CO. Born to Clarence and Mabelle Anderson on April 24, 1936, in Okabena, MN, he was a wonderful man known by many.

Howard's memory is treasured by his devoted wife of 64 years, Kay Anderson, and their children: Cynthia Clanton (Chuck), Pete Anderson (Denise), and Becca Sletten (Dennis Ringhofer). His seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren are a testament to his lasting legacy. His brother David Anderson (Buggie), along with sisters-in-law Karen Ingvaldson, Lucy Monahan (William), Tina Mogen, and brother-in-law Jim Mogen (Monica), as well as a host of nieces and nephews, will hold dear the memory of his kind heart, smile and laughter.

Howard is predeceased by his parents, his in-laws Sigvard and Geraldine Mogen, and his brothers-in-law John Mogen and Jerry Ingvaldson.

After graduating from Owatonna High School in 1954, he joined the Navy. He was called back home to help on the family farm and continued farming until 1986, successfully operating a hog, beef and crop farm. He was also a Pioneer Seed Salesman for 21 years. His leadership and service with the Steele County Pork Producers, the Minnesota Limousin Association and Steele County 4-H, as well as his role as a confirmation teacher, reflected his commitment to agriculture, education, and faith.

After moving to the Belle Vista, AR area in 1986, Howard managed Helping Hands in Bentonville, AR, a non-profit organization that operated as a partnership with 24 churches. After overseeing two expansions and nearly 20 years of dedicated service helping to meet the needs of the local residents, he retired from God's work. With the help of Kay, he learned the basics of quilting. The two of them worked tirelessly, creating hundreds of quilts that were donated to local churches and organizations in Arkansas and in Loveland, Colorado.

The Anderson family will hold a private service in Howard's honor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland, CO, and a Celebration of Life in Owatonna, MN at a later date. Final arrangements in care of Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens. Memories of Howard and words of condolence for his family are welcome at www.resthavencolorado.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas or the donor's choice. Howard's spirit and love for his family and community will forever be remembered.
