James Harold Kirtley, 77, of Loveland, CO, passed away on August 25, 2023. He was born on August 28, 1945, in Sylvia, Kansas. Jim was a pillar of his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jim, known affectionately as "Hoach," was a kind-hearted and funny man. He had a loving and compassionate nature, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. With his brave and strong spirit, he faced life's challenges with steadfast determination. Jim possessed a quick wit and wisdom that endeared him to those around him. He had a wealth of knowledge and love for the game of football. He thoroughly enjoyed discussing the highlights of all the games.
Jim served our country in the Army from 1966-1972. He exemplified the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, integrity, and personal courage. Jim served his country with honor and dedication, embodying the true spirit of a soldier.
After his military service, Jim embarked on a successful career. He worked for several electric companies before transitioning into building maintenance. He contributed his skills and dedication to Teledyne Waterpik and retired from CSU. Even in retirement, he remained active, working part-time delivering paint for Ed's Auto Paint, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment.
In his free time, Jim pursued various hobbies. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, camping, and boating. As time went on, he developed a passion for gambling and drag racing. Additionally, Jim was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos supporting the team through the highs and lows. He enjoyed eating with a passion and would be asking what was for dinner while eating breakfast.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lynn, and their daughters Dawn (Greg), Christin (Stephen), and Dee Ann (Shawn). He adored his grandchildren Kyle (Cherish), Cameron, Charlie, and Brady, as well as his great-grandchildren Jaxon and Parker. He is also survived by his brother, Don and his sister Annie. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Kirtley.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on September 2, 2023, at Foundations Church, located at 1380 Denver Avenue, Loveland, CO 80537. The service will commence at 10 a.m. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating his life and sharing cherished memories.
James Harold "Hoach" Kirtley will forever be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and country. His legacy will continue to inspire and bring warmth to those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
