September 2, 1959 ~ April 13, 2022 (age 62)

James Leroy Lepisto was born in Inglewood, California, to Wallace and Lois Lepisto on the 2 nd of September, 1959. He was fortunate to have parents who considered Longmont a wonderful place to raise a family and moved to Longmont when he was an infant. His family was very close-knit and they spent many hours on the road visiting family members, most of whom lived in Minnesota. Jim became very interested in his Finnish heritage, due to his father’s and uncle’s stories and teachings.

Jim spent most of his life in and around Longmont, graduating in 1977 and becoming employed with the City of Longmont even before he graduated. Eventually, he became a respected Lineman with the Electric department there and earned a spot as a supervisor. Jim could not contain himself to the city limits, he wanted to explore the world. He found a way to apply his skills at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, then also on Ascension Island, said to be the most remote island in the Atlantic. Even with that, he was not finished. He contributed some consulting work regarding power distribution to officials on the island of Palau, half a world away from Ascension Island and equally remote. He was very proud of all his accomplishments in these locations.

Jim started a family in Longmont and was the proud father of two sons, Ryan and Eli. He gave all he could to their upbringing and growing into the fine men they are today. Both men currently live in Longmont. As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, Jim moved to Idaho in 2019, seeking more wide-open spaces and wilderness. He had numerous opportunities to pursue his interest in early American history and wildlife while in Idaho.

His time in this world was cut short by serious health complications that ultimately took his life on the 13 th of April, 2022. He was 62 years old at the time. Jim remained a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Longmont.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Lois. He leaves behind his sons Ryan and Eli Lepisto of Longmont, brother John Lepisto of Oklahoma City, nephew Alan Lepisto of Oklahoma City and niece Rebecca McIntyre of Bennington Oklahoma.
